South Leith Parish Church , Scotland
This project is based in South Leith Parish Church in Leith, by Edinburgh in Scotland.
South Leith has enjoyed a good relationship with Chipembi School, Zambia since 1998. Mr Lumbama, the then Headmaster, came to Scotland and successfully completed his Masters degree in education at Moray House, Edinburgh. He was supported by our congregation during that period. We have taken two busy trips with groups of fifteen plus to Chipembi in 2003 and 2006 and have had another couple of individuals making visits.

We have helped to set up computer laboratory, built a cattle paddock and have worked to make the school self sufficient in food through a fish farm and the purchase of livestock. We have taken non church members who had specific skills to share as well as our own members to Zambia. We have helped initiate four visits from the school to Scotland all involving teachers and two involving pupils. So six teachers and six pupils have stayed with member so four congregation. The purpose of these visits has been educational as well as deepening bonds of friendship and cross cultural awareness. Every person who has travelled has appreciated these visits and have recommended others to take the future trips.
Our current project is in collaboration with Rotary International to install a much needed water borehole within the school grounds. We hope this will be completed in the next six months
