St. Andrew's Church, Pretoria, South Africa

Our church got involved in the World Without Walls project through our partner churches in Dumfries. The minister of the Tinwald, Kirkmichael and Torthorwald congregations was working on a South African project in which they raised funds for the Salvokop community in Pretoria.

Our aim with the project is to strengthen the communication links between our congregation and those in Scotland, and others, to show the contributors how their help and the work of God is changing South Africa.

This is just the beginning... we plan to transfer our skills to others and also use the technology to enhance our church services and bible studies.

Since joining the World Without Walls project in Scotland two years ago, Rudi Sadler and Hildegard Königk (both young members of St Andrew’s) have been making short films in and around Pretoria. Their films focus on their church and general related events in the city. In 2006 they also participated in the International WWW Film Festival in Bo’ness, Scotland where their entry won the award for Best Editing as well as the overall Best Film at the festival. As part of their centenary celebrations, St Andrew’s International WWW Film Festival will showcase a selection of the films produced over the past two years. Participating countries will include South Africa, Scotland, India, Bolivia, Uganda, Ghana and Zambia. Entrance is free and the festival will be presented in real cinema style, with popcorn and drinks on sale.
