KEY POINTS
The World Without Walls project seeks to foster a world without walls by supporting partnerships between churches in Scotland and organisations overseas that contribute to social and humanitarian well-being.
The Church in Scotland should
* Have a link with a church or related organisation overseas,
* Be prepared to work with that partner in its development, recognising the diversity and richness of other cultures and societies
* Have a vision of the contribution that media, and particularly film, can make to strengthening that partnership and allowing common experiences to be shared, within the community and across the partnership
* Be prepared to have some of its members trained in film making; a two week full time course or a part time course run over a number of week-ends is available
* Be prepared to contribute of £2,000 (or as they are able) towards the project;
* Be prepared to make a film monthly over 18 months, telling the story of the church, of its members or of its partnership with the overseas partner, and of its contribution to the community and to humanitarian development.
The Overseas Partner should
* Be in active partnership with the Scottish partner
Have a vision of the contribution that media, and particularly film, can make to strengthening that partnership by allowing common experiences to be shared within the community and across the partnership
* Be prepared to have some of its members trained in video diary production. Computing and filming equipment will be available free or on a long term loan, and places on a two week full time training programme, probably in the UK, will be made available with travel and accommodation inclusive
* Be prepared to make a monthly video diary over 18 months telling the story of the organisation, or of the partnership, and of its contribution to the community and to humanitarian development.
* Be prepared to take and use responsible computing and film making equipment
People sent on training in film making
* Our experience is that for the greatest benefit from the training, the participants should
Be committed to learning about film making
Be committed to the production, with the help of their organisation, of films on a regular basis, and be able so to manage their time to achieve this (not all ministers have the necessary time)
Should have some experience using personal computers and the world wide web, be fully conversant with email and use it regularly.
The films
- One video-diary/film of 4 – 5 minutes is expected to be produced each month by each partner
Each film should tell the story or part of the story of the church and its work and ministry, or of its members, or of its partnership with the overseas partner, and of its contribution to the community and to humanitarian development.
The completed films will be uploaded to the world without walls web page and be accessible to everyone throughout the world.
Funding
- The project is funded by the
The Scottish participating churches, the Church of Scotland Parish Development Fund
Lloyds TS Bank Fund for Scotland, Scotsys Computing Suppliers and Mac Computers UK
